Indiana offered 6'10" PF / C Malik Williams today on an unofficial visit to Bloomington. Williams is part of the 2017 class and is at least the fourth offer handed out in that particular class by Coach Crean.
Coach Crean has never been afraid to offer players at a younger age than some other coaches, and this is certainly no exception here. Williams has had a great summer and if he keeps improving at this same rate, he will likely be one of the top recruits in the entire 2017 class. Not to mention - he could keep growing which will only better his stock if his skills also follow.
No recruit rankings have been put out there for 2017, but Williams will be one of the higher ranked players when those rankings do come out. Here is a short video of his game:
It is too early in the process to determine who the biggest competitors are going to be in this recruitment, but it will likely be some top tier schools. Therefore, it may be a benefit to the Hoosiers to hand out the first offer. Certainly no commitment is expected here anytime soon, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next year or two.
