Nebrasketball landed their first commitment for the 2015 class today in PF Michael Jacobson. The 6'8" 220 pound three star forward is ranked #214 in the 247Sports Composite Index which puts him at #52 as far as power forwards are concerned. He is the #1 ranked player in the 2015 class in the state of Iowa. Jacobson chose Nebraska over other offers from Drake, Indiana State, Northern Iowa, Princeton, Brown, and several other smaller programs.
This will leave Nebraska with four open scholarships next season with an already talented squad if everyone returns. Jacobson likely will not need to come in and play important minutes right away which could be very good for his development. He currently possesses a sweet mid-range jumper which you don't find in many players these days. Here is some video of his game:

As you can see, the mid range jumper is clearly his bread and butter. However, he does have the ability to also get to the rim if he needs to which is important for someone at 6'8". The area he will most likely need to develop is on the defensive end which is the case for most freshman entering major college basketball. Overall, I think this is a positive pickup for the Cornhuskers as they continue to try and ride the momentum of last season's success.
