Illinois was identified as one of the hardest working schools for 2016 elite recruit Jayson Tatum. Other schools identified were Arizona, Duke, Kentucky, Missouri, and Saint Louis.

Melo Trimble have been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for Week 3 of the season. Trimble had big performances in Maryland's 3 wins including a 24 point performance against Monmouth.

DJ Newbill and Melo Trimble have been named Co-Big Ten Players of the Week for Week 3 of the season. Newbill averaged 28.5 points per game in Penn State's two wins. Trimble had big performances in Maryland's 3 wins including a 24 point performance against Monmouth.

Six teams from the Big Ten appeared in the Week 4 USA Today Coaches' Poll. These teams were #4 Wisconsin, #13 Ohio State, #16 Michigan, #18 Michigan State, #22 Maryland, and #25 Illinois. Nebraska also received votes.

Six teams from the Big Ten were able to make it into the Week 4 AP Poll. These were #2 Wisconsin, #14 Ohio State, #17 Michigan, #19 Michigan State, #21 Maryland, and #24 Illinois. Nebraska also received votes.

Michigan State is reportedly one of three schools working the hardest for West Virginia prospect Miles Bridges. Other schools identified were Connecticut and Iowa State.
