Iowa and Northwestern Split Big Ten Weekly Awards

The Hawkeyes and Wildcats split the Big Ten weekly awards.

The Big Ten released its weekly award list for Week Four of the regular season and Iowa and Northwestern split the weekly honors. Northwestern’s Boo Buie was named Player of the Week and Iowa’s Owen Freeman earned Freshman of the Week honors.

During the week heading into the award, Buie put up some impressive numbers. He averaged 27.0 points, 8.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game as Northwestern went 2-0 and upset top ranked Purdue. That win over the Boilermakers also included 31 points for the Wildcat guard, which is sure to turn plenty of heads. This is the third time he’s earned Player of the Week honors, which is another incredible achievement.

Freeman also put up solid numbers. He had 16 points, five rebounds, five blocks, and three steals in Iowa’s win over North Florida. His five blocks were the most for a Hawkeye since Keegan Murray put up the same total in 2021. This is already the third time Freeman has earned Freshman of the Week honors.

Congratulations are in order for both players. Don’t be surprised if they show back up on this list given how they have played to date either.
