Today the Hoosiers look to improve to 2-0 if they can knock off Army later this evening.
Army Black Knights at Indiana Hoosiers
- Time/TV: 7:00 PM ET BTN
- Line: Indiana -25.5
In the Hoosiers second game of the season they’ll look to have a better night then their season opening win against Florida Gulf Coast. In that game a back and forth affair saw the Hoosiers at legit risk of losing to FGCU before doing just enough down the stretch to win by 6 points.
Their ability to win their season opener was based heavily on getting to the line, with the Hoosiers holding a 30-6 free throw advantage. That was key because Indiana struggled from the perimeter, something that has been a thorn in their side for the last number of years. It’s going to be interesting to see how Indiana will fare if they can’t improve from three, especially with no longer having Trayce Jackson-Davis around. They did get big performances from Trey Galloway and Xavier Johnson and more of those nights will be needed as the season moves forward.
Tonight’s outing against Army shouldn’t be much of a problem regardless of how well Indiana shoots, though. Army has scored 55 and 44 points in their first two games against Marist and Stonehill for a icy cold 49.5 points per game. No player is averaging in double figures and the Black Knights are shooting a woeful 31% from the field, 25% from three and 51.6% from the line while also committing 16 turnovers per game.
There’s some questions Indiana will need to figure out at some point this year but tonight’s game will do little to help them find any answers. Indiana should win big and this game will be well out of reach before the end of the first half.
