Recently, the Minnesota Golden Gophers got some exciting news as 2022 prospect Joshua Ola-Joseph announced he would be committing to the program. He joins what is starting to become an interesting group of incoming talent for new head coach Ben Johnson.

Ola-Joseph comes out of Osseo, Minnesota and is rated as a three-star prospect and a top 10 player in the State of Minnesota by 247Sports. The recruiting site also lists him at 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds and as a key 2022 prospect. Along with Minnesota, he also had offers from Cal Poly, Clemson, Colorado State, and Loyola (Chicago).
While his ratings won’t turn a ton of heads nationally, Ola-Joseph does have some unique skills that can help him at the next level. He has nice verticality, can attack the hoop, and has some range. He likewise should have enough strength to hold his own and has a decent handle. There’s still some room to grow defensively and to perfect his shot, but don’t be shocked if he can contribute early.
He became one of three commitments in Minnesota’s 2022 recruiting class, with all of the pickups coming recently. Johnson and his staff still have their work cut out to build the roster moving forward, but Gopher fans have to be excited about bringing Ola-Joseph into the fold.
