Earlier this week, the Michigan Wolverines got some exciting news as the program learned marquee 2022 prospect Tarris Reed would be committing to the program. This is the second commitment for Juwan Howard in Michigan’s 2022 recruiting class.

Reed comes out of St. Louis, Missouri and is rated as a four-star prospect and the second-best player in the state by 247Sports. The recruiting site also lists him at 6-foot-9 and 230 pounds. Along with Michigan, he also had offers from Creighton, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan State, Missouri, and Saint Louis among others.

While Reed is still more than a year away from coming to Ann Arbor, it’s easy to see his skillset on display. He’s a physical force down low, finishes well at the rim, and players well in transition for his size. There’s still room to grow on the perimeter, but he looks like a player that could be productive as a multi-year college contributor.

As noted above, Reed is Michigan’s second commitment in the 2022 recruiting class. The class is now ranked 11th nationally and third in the Big Ten, behind Ohio State and Illinois. It likewise continues a recent hot streak for Howard on the recruiting trail since he arrived in Ann Arbor. Michigan landed the nation’s top class in the 2021 cycle and McDaniel is the 12th prospect ranked in the top 115 for Michigan since 2019. And that’s not even to mention Michigan’s marquee transfer pickups and the players still on the board in the 2022 cycle.

How Reed will perform in Ann Arbor is unknown, but Howard and fans have to be excited about what’s to come.
