Late last month, the Minnesota Golden Gophers put out a key offer in the 2023 recruiting cycle to 2023 prospect Scotty Middleton. This figures to be a key recruiting cycle for new head coach Ben Johnson and his staff.

Middleton comes out of Miami, Florida and is currently rated as a three-star and one of the best players in the State of Florida by 247Sports. The recruiting site also lists him at 6-foot-6 and 180 pounds and identifies him as a quickly rising player. Along with Minnesota, he also currently has offers from Bryant, DePaul, Kansas State, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State among others.
Minnesota currently has no commitments in its 2023 recruiting class, but don’t expect it to stay that way for too long. Johnson and staff have been really active so far and it seems reasonable to think they’ll try to make a splash there. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see as there’s still plenty of time left ahead of him. It should be interesting to watch his recruitment in the coming years.
