Earlier this week, the Ohio State Buckeyes got some exciting news as 2022 prospect Felix Okpara announced that he would be committing to the program. Okpara adds some quality size in the class for Chris Holtmann in what figures to be an interesting group for the program.

Okpara comes out of Chattanooga, Tennessee and is rated as a four-star prospect and the second best player in the State of Tennessee by 247Sports. The recruiting site lists him at 6-foot-11 and 210 pounds. Along with Ohio State, he also has offers from schools including Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss among others.
On the court, Okpara projects to be a physical force down low. He’s lengthy and has an impressive wingspan. He actually compares well to many of Ohio State’s recent big men, so there shouldn’t be much of a challenge in sliding him into a starting role. He’s likewise an underrated passer. If he can improve his handle and shot, there’s a ton of potential here.
With Okpara’s commitment, Ohio State now has four commitments in the program’s 2022 recruiting class. The class is now ranked first nationally and projects to be one of the best hauls for the Buckeyes in years. Fans have to be thrilled.
Holtmann and his staff likely aren’t done with the 2022 class, but Buckeye fans have to be excited about where things sit at the moment.
