Late last month, the Minnesota Golden Gophers put out a key offer in the 2022 recruiting cycle to 2022 prospect Anthony Black. This figures to be a key recruiting cycle for new head coach Ben Johnson and his staff.

Black comes out of Coppell, Texas and is currently rated as a four-star prospect and the seventh-best player in the state by 247Sports. The recruiting site lists him at 6-foot-7 and 185 pounds and he seems to be a player on the rise. Along with Minnesota, he also has offers from schools including Arkansas, Auburn, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and Texas among others.
Minnesota currently has no commitments in its 2022 recruiting class, but don’t expect it to stay that way for too long. Johnson and staff have been really active so far and it seems reasonable to think they’ll try to make a splash there. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see as there’s still plenty of time left ahead of him. It should be interesting to watch his recruitment in the coming years.
