Earlier this month, the Illinois Fighting Illini put out a key offer in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Brad Underwood and his staff decided to offer 2024 prospect John Bol.
I'm extremely thankful to the University of Illinois for believe in me and offering me a scholarship. I'm staying hungry and humble! Let's good!! @CoachWilson5 @BradBealElite @IlliniMBB pic.twitter.com/DGX1Wf5x1m— John Bol (@JohnBol_7) June 3, 2021
Bol comes out of Boma in the South Sudan and is largely unrated by most of the scout services, though he certainly seems like he has some long-term growth potential. Verbal Commits lists him at 7-foot-2 and 200 pounds. Along with Illinois, he also has offers from Clemson, Kansas State, Lindenwood, and Missouri among others.
Illinois currently has no commitments in the program’s 2024 recruiting class, though that isn’t surprising given some of the program’s staff turnover and the timing of the 2024 cycle. Still, that will probably change in the months to come and fans will hope Bol can get things rolling. However, we will have to wait and see as his recruitment is still very much in the air. Underwood and his staff will have to put in some work.
