Heide is a four-star small forward from Minneapolis. Per 247Sports Composite rankings the 6’5” forward is ranked as the 95th best prospect in his recruiting class, the 23rd best small forward and the fourth best prospect from the state of Minnesota. Heide had offers from a laundry list of notable schools including Arizona, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio State, Texas and Wisconsin. It should be mentioned that Heide had also just visited Minnesota last week.
The forward joins a 2022 recruiting class that also includes four-star guard Fletcher Loyer and three-star guard Braden Smith.
“I really felt like home there,” Heide said about committing to Purdue. “The coaches and the players made me feel super welcomed. Academics are super important there and that’s something that is super important for me and my family. They have a great facility and great campus so that’s what made me choose Purdue.”
Hamden is considered to be a quality shooter that is good in transition. The wing will likely see minutes at the two or three and the coaching staff at Purdue made comparisons to a mix of players such as Ryan Cline, Dakota Mathias and Vincent Edwards as to how he may be utilized in his time at West Lafayette.
With the 2022 class being pretty heavy on the smaller size so far, with a trio of guards and wings currently committed, look for Matt Painter to add a big next. Currently 247Sports ranks the Boilermakers class as second in the Big Ten.
