The Nittany Lions recently got some disappointing news, as the program learned forward Abdou Tsimbila would be entering the transfer portal. While Tsimbila had minimal contributions during his time with Penn State, he projected as a valuable depth piece moving forward. His departure will put even more pressure on new head coach Micah Shrewsberry to hit the recruiting trail hard this offseason.

Tsimbila only spent one season at Penn State after transferring from the JUCO level. During last season, he averaged 1.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game and played in just 16 games with a season-high of 14 minutes. However, most figured he would grow into a larger role, especially with the significant attrition this offseason.
With yet another departure, expect Penn State to hit the transfer portal and recruiting trail pretty hard in the coming weeks. Don’t be surprised if there are a few “shots in the dark” to fill out the roster. We’ll have to stay tuned to see how things sort out.
