Earlier this month, the Illinois Fighting Illini put out a key offer in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Brad Underwood and his staff decided to offer 2022 prospect Cam Whitmore.

Whitmore comes out of Severn, Maryland and is rated as a four-star prospect and the fifth-best player in the state by 247Sports. The recruiting site also lists him at 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds and as a rising star in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Along with Illinois, he also currently has offers from Bryant, Creighton, Florida, Maryland, Penn State, and UConn among others.
Illinois currently has one commitment in the program’s 2022 recruiting class from three-star guard Reggie Bass and there’s little denying Whitmore could really get things going if he decided to join the group. However, we will have to wait and see as his recruitment is still very much in the air and any potential commitment is a long way off. He currently has no Crystal Ball selections on 247Sports. Underwood and his staff will have to put in some work.
