The Scarlet Knights got some disappointing news this week as fans learned center Myles Johnson would be entering the transfer portal. Johnson was one of the team’s most important players this season and the last few years. His departure would certainly leave a mark on a program hoping to build off this year’s NCAA Tournament appearance.
Rutgers big man Myles Johnson will graduate and transfer, per his Twitter page. Should be in significant demand. Excellent intangibles.

Johnson was a consistent contributor for the Scarlet Knights over the last few seasons. He played in 90 games during his three years with Rutgers and averaged 8.0 points and 8.5 rebounds last season as the program snapped a 30-year NCAA Tournament drought. Johnson also has a number of big games this year, including a massive performance against Indiana late in the regular season to clinch the NCAA berth.
Fortunately for Scarlet Knight fans, the team does have a solid replacement for Johnson in Clifford Omoruyi. He provided nice relief behind Johnson this season and should be in position to improve considerably this year. We’ll have to stay tuned to see how things sort out and whether the program might look into the transfer portal itself.
