Averaged 3.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and one assist this season. || @247SportsPortal
The junior averaged 3.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season in 28 games, starting five. Aaron Wheeler was a key rotation player the past two seasons, but his inability to find his shot likely limited his minutes. He started to find his shooting touch towards the end of the season this year, being key to several Purdue wins this winter.
It’s not a huge surprise that Wheeler is looking to play elsewhere next year as it’s likely he would have struggled to continue getting almost 20 minutes a night like he has the past two seasons. He’d likely lose minutes next year with the rise of Mason Gillis and the addition of two four star forwards in Trey Kaufman-Renn and Caleb Furst.
Wheeler brought a ton of athleticism to the court and made several key plays on defense, but struggled shooting over the past two seasons.
