The AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls released earlier this week for Week 17 of the season and five Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. It’s an impressive achievement for the league and sets up a great field for the NCAA Tournament.
Here is where the Big Ten landed:
Week 17 AP Poll:
- No. 2 - Illinois
- No. 4 - Michigan
- No. 7 - Ohio State
- No. 8 - Iowa
- No. 20 - Purdue
- Receiving Votes: Wisconsin
Week 17 USA Today Coaches’ Poll
- No. 2 - Illinois
- No. 4 - Michigan
- No. 7 - Ohio State
- No. 8 - Iowa
- No. 20 - Purdue
- Receiving Votes: N/A
While it’s disappointing to see teams like Michigan State and Wisconsin receiving fewer votes, there’s still a lot to like here. Two teams in the top five and four in the top 10 is an impressive achievement. And that’s not even to mention Purdue near the tail end of the top 25. The league remains stacked.
Everything will shake up this week with the NCAA Tournament. It will be interesting to see how far all five of these teams go.
