Illinois Fighting Illini Earn One Seed In The 2021 NCAA Tournament

After putting together an impressive season, the Illinois Fighting Illini have earned their spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and March Madness. The team has been slotted as a one seed in the Midwest Region.

Illinois will open up NCAA Tournament play this weekend against Drexel. It figures to be a pretty manageable matchup. However, things figure to get significantly tougher afterward with Loyola (Chicago) or Georgia Tech waiting in the Round of 32. Other notable teams in the region include Houston, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee.

There’s little denying this has already been the most successful season for Illinois since 2005. Illinois narrowly finished behind Michigan in the Big Ten title race and followed it up with an impressive run to the Big Ten Tournament title. And the team now enters the Big Dance with a legitimate chance go win it all. Buckle up.
