After putting together an inconsistent, but solid season, the Michigan State Spartans have earned their spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and March Madness. The team landed as one of the “First Four” and will participate in a play-in game in the East Region.

Michigan State will open up NCAA Tournament play on Thursday against UCLA. It figures to be a competitive game as the teams are separated by just 12 spots on KenPom. Should the Spartans beat the Bruins, Michigan State would earn the No. 11 seed and move into the Round of 64. At that point, the team would face six seed BYU.

For Spartan fans, this is certainly good news. Fans were hoping to avoid the First Four, but the NCAA Tournament streak continues. Michigan State has now been a part of March Madness for 23 straight years, which is easily the longest streak in the Big Ten. It’s an impressive achievement and deserves plenty of acclaim.

BTPowerhouse will have plenty to follow on this and all of the Big Ten teams in the NCAA Tournament in the days ahead.
