After putting together an impressive season, the Michigan Wolverines have earned their spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and March Madness. The team has been slotted as a one seed in the East Region.
Michigan will open up NCAA Tournament play on Saturday against either Mount St. Mary’s or Texas Southern. It figures to be a pretty manageable matchup. However, things figure to get significantly tougher afterward with LSU or St. Bonaventure waiting in the Round of 32. Other notable teams in the region include Florida State, Colorado, and Georgetown.
For Juwan Howard’s second season, this is certainly a welcome development. It’s also Michigan’s first one seed in the NCAA Tournament in more than a decade. John Beilein piloted the Wolverines to a two seed, but never got a one seed, despite the program’s remarkable achievements during his tenure.
BTPowerhouse will have plenty to follow on this and all of the Big Ten teams in the NCAA Tournament in the days ahead.
