Earlier this month, the Illinois Fighting Illini put out a key offer in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Brad Underwood and his staff decided to offer 2022 prospect Ángel Montas.

Montas comes out of La Romana, Dominican Republic and plays at Life Christian Academy. He is currently unrated by most of the major recruiting services and is listed at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds by Verbal Commits. Along with Illinois, he also has an offer from Iona.
Illinois currently has no commitments in the program’s 2022 recruiting class. However, Illinois does have some momentum after a productive 2019-’20 season and some early season success to date. And if Montas can get things rolling on the recruiting trail, perhaps Illinois could be in play for a great 2022 class. However, we will have to wait and see as his recruitment is still very much in the air. Underwood and his staff will have to put in some work.
