Minnesota Basketball Awards Walk-On Hunt Conroy With Scholarship

NCAA Basketball: Minnesota at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

In a field good story Minnesota announced earlier this week that they have awarded walk-on senior Hunt Conroy with a scholarship.

Conroy has been a member of the Gophers for four seasons, seeing playing time in 9 games and scoring 3 points throughout his Gopher career. The senior has played in three games this year, most recently against Ohio State earlier in the month, and has recorded one rebound in four minutes of playing time this season.

“Hunt has been in our program for a couple of years and he has been phenomenal,” said head coach Richard Pitino. “He is a great kid who wants to be a coach. He deserves it. At the end of the day if you can reward a guy in your program, like we have done in the past, we want to do that. I am happy for Hunt. He has been a great member of our team and our program.”

Conroy has already picked up a bachelor’s degree and is currently working on his master’s in youth development leadership. His dad, Ed Conroy, is currently an assistant coach for the Gophers.
