The Big Ten has two games on Sunday, highlighted by a rematch between Iowa and Northwestern with big implications for both sides. Penn State and Purdue will also matchup in a game later in the afternoon.
Let’s take a look at the schedule.
Game of the Day:
-No. 5 Iowa Hawkeyes at Northwestern Wildcats
- Time/TV: 12:00PM ET (CBS)
- KenPom Spread: Iowa by 8
This is a rematch of a meeting between the two teams from just a few weeks ago, but things have changed considerably since then. While Iowa was coming off a tough loss to Minnesota then, the team is absolutely rolling now. And conversely, Northwestern was rolling then, but now finds itself amid a four-game skid. The matchup changed the direction of both teams teams then, so perhaps it can do it again now.
For Iowa, this is a chance to keep things rolling and stay atop the Big Ten standings after Michigan fell to Minnesota on Saturday. It’s also a chance to further show the Hawkeyes can thrive away from home after a few slips earlier in the year. And as noted above, this game offers Northwestern a chance to get things turned around after a rough January.
The matchup of the game will be upfront. Can the Wildcats do anything to slow down Luka Garza down low? The big man had 18 points in the first meeting. Northwestern also needs to do a better job stopping Jordan Bohannon in transition. If the Wildcats can play decent defense, it should have a chance to pull off the upset.
- Pick Against The Spread: Iowa
The Rest:
-Penn State Nittany Lions at Purdue Boilermakers
- Time/TV: 1:00PM ET (BTN)
- KenPom Spread: Purdue by 4
After a few weeks off due to COVID-19 protocols, Penn State returns to action on Sunday hoping to score a big road win. It’s the team’s first game since December 30th as the Nittany Lions hope to score Penn State’s first conference win of the season. Meanwhile, Purdue enters the game after a huge win at Indiana on Thursday. It’s a great chance for the Boilermakers to keep things rolling.
Expect the game to come down to how Penn State defends Trevion Williams down low. The Purdue big man has been on fire recently and will hope to put up a big performance again on Sunday. John Harrar will have his hands full.
- Pick Against The Spread: Purdue
Cancelled/Postponed:
-Indiana Hoosiers at Michigan State Spartans
This game was rescheduled due to COVID-19 concerns. BTPowerhouse will keep everyone posted as things are rescheduled and wishes everyone involved health and safety.
