The former Nittany Lion took to Twitter to discuss his departure from Penn State.

When Rasir Bolton announced he was leaving Penn State, he turned a lot of heads around the conference. It wasn’t an expected move, so many speculated about the reasons he decided to leave the Nittany Lions.

Well, earlier this week, Bolton took to Twitter and revealed the reasons why he left.

The words of his statement are self-explanatory and contend head coach Pat Chambers made inappropriate and racially insensitive remarks during Bolton’s time with the program. In particular, he took issue with Chambers allegedly telling him: “I want to loosen the noose that’s around your neck.” Bolton suggested this remark carried racial undertones. This comment also came around the same time he was served a one-game suspension in 2019 due to his interactions with Myles Dread.

Chambers has since responded to Bolton’s comments in a recent interview with The Undefeated, specifically discussing the “noose” comment. He told the website he “didn’t realize that word would hurt him, and I am truly, truly sorry for that.”

We will have to wait and see if more comes of this, but one would expect Chambers will have to discuss this further in the media in the weeks and months to come.
