2021 3-Star Guard Houston Mallette Commits to Penn State

The Nittany Lions added a second commit to their 2021 class.

Penn State added their second commit for 2021 last week when Houston Mallette announced he was committing to the Nittany Lions.

Mallette is a 6’5” combo guard that is ranked by 247Sports Composite Rankings as a three-star prospect and the 160th best prospect in his class. Mallette had offers mainly from mid-majors out west, including UNLV. He joins three-star forward TaQuan Woodley, who committed earlier in the month.

The addition of Mallette could be interesting as Penn State hasn’t typically had many great shooters during the Pat Chambers era and Mallette’s jumpshot is why he’s been targeted by schools. The addition of a sharpshooter from beyond the arc could be huge for Penn State, though it might take a little bit for Mallette to adapt to the Big Ten grind. While the guard has excelled at the high school level, he’ll definitely need to bulk up if he wants to go up against other guards in the Big Ten.

With the addition of Mallette the Nittany Lions currently have one spot for their 2021 recruiting class.
