Minnesota got some good news this week with Liam Robbins announcing that he is transferring to the Golden Gophers.

The seven footer has ties to the Minnesota program as his uncle Ed Conroy is an assistant coach under Richard Pitino. The addition of Robbins could be huge for Minnesota as they need to replace star Daniel Oturu, who declared for the NBA Draft. Robbins isn’t a grad transfer but he does plan to file a waiver in attempt to be immediately eligible next season.
There is also a chance a one-time transfer rule for immediate eligibility could be voted on this offseason, allowing Robbins to play next fall.
“I hope the one-time transfer waiver goes through,” Robbins said. “Hopefully it works in my favor.”
In his sophomore season Robbins averaged 14.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game for the Bulldogs. The seven footer from Iowa will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
