The AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls were released earlier this week for Week 19 of the season and six Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. Having nearly half the league ranked speaks to the quality of the league this year.
Here is where the Big Ten landed:
Week 19 AP Poll:
- No. 9 - Michigan State
- No. 12 - Maryland
- No. 18 - Wisconsin
- No. 19 - Ohio State
- No. 21 - Illinois
- No. 25 - Iowa
- Receiving Votes: Michigan, Penn State, Rutgers, Purdue
Week 19 USA Today Coaches’ Poll
- No. 11 - Maryland
- No. 12 - Michigan State
- No. 19 - Wisconsin
- No. 20 - Ohio State
- No. 22 - Illinois
- No. 25 - Iowa
- Receiving Votes: Penn State, Michigan, Rutgers
The Big Ten doesn’t have as many teams in the top 10 as some might have hoped to see, but having six teams in the top 25 and three others receiving votes is remarkable. And some of the teams like Michigan State and Wisconsin seem to be gaining momentum. We’ll have to stay tuned to see how things shake out.
