Earlier this week, ESPN released its way too early preseason top 25 poll and five Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. While that number didn’t match what the league has seen in years past, it still was encouraging.
Here’s the full list of where the Big Ten landed:
Big Ten In ESPN Way Too Early Top 25 Rankings:
- No. 7 - Iowa Hawkeyes
- No. 9 - Michigan State Spartans
- No. 13 - Ohio State Buckeyes
- No. 15 - Wisconsin Badgers
- No. 19 - Michigan Wolverines
- Just Missed: Indiana Hoosiers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights
The full set of rankings can be seen here. It was interesting to see teams like Illinois, Maryland, and Purdue not get more consideration after their performances in recent years. We’ll have to see whether that holds up when the season starts.
