The AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls were released earlier this week for Week 18 of the season and eight Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. Having more than half the league ranked speaks to the quality of the league this year.
Here is where the Big Ten landed:
Week 18 AP Poll:
- No. 9 - Maryland
- No. 16 - Michigan State
- No. 18 - Iowa
- No. 19 - Ohio State
- No. 20 - Penn State
- No. 23 - Illinois
- No. 24 - Wisconsin
- No. 25 - Michigan
- Receiving Votes: N/A
Week 18 USA Today Coaches’ Poll
- No. 9 - Maryland
- No. 17 - Michigan State
- No. 18 - Iowa
- No. 19 - Ohio State
- No. 20 - Penn State
- No. 22 - Illinois
- No. 24 - Wisconsin
- Receiving Votes: Michigan
The Big Ten doesn’t have as many teams in the top 10 as some might have hoped to see, but having eight teams in the top 25 is remarkable. And some of the teams like Michigan State and Ohio State seem to be gaining momentum. We’ll have to stay tuned to see how things shake out.
