The Big Ten released its weekly award winners for Week 14 of the regular season and Indiana and Penn State ended up splitting the awards. Lamar Stevens was named Big Ten Player of the Week and Trayce Jackson-Davis was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Stevens had an impressive week for the Nittany Lions, averaging 28.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 38.0 minutes per game in Penn State’s two wins last week. Notably, he had 24 points in the team’s road win over Michigan State and 33 points in the win over Minnesota. The wins pushed Penn State on the verge of the NCAA Tournament. This is the second time he’s earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors during his career.
Similarly, Jackson-Davis also had a big week. He had 16 points and eight rebounds in the team’s rivalry battle with Purdue on Saturday. Despite the loss, he performed quite well and kept Indiana in it at times. This is the fourth time Jackson-Davis has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week during his career.
Congratulations are in order for both players. Don’t be surprised if these two show back up on this list given how they have played to date.
