Earlier this week, the Purdue Boilermakers got some exciting news as 2022 prospect Jameel Brown announced that he would be committing to the program. It was a big pickup for Matt Painter as he continues to build a really talented 2022 class.

Brown comes out of Haverford, Pennsylvania and is currently rated as a four-star prospect and the third-best player in the state by 247Sports. The site also lists him at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds. Along with his offer from Purdue, Brown also had offers from programs including Auburn, Marquette, and UMass among others. He’s rated somewhere around 125th nationally, which certainly makes him an exciting prospect.
With Brown’s commitment, Purdue now has two players in its 2022 recruiting class, which now ranks third nationally. Those rankings will certainly change with plenty of time remaining before the classes are solidified, but that’s a great start for Painter and his staff. There’s little debating this could end up being a nationally elite class.
There’s no telling what Brown will accomplish in the Big Ten, but this is a significant commitment for the Boilermakers that keeps things heading in the right direction. Painter has proven his worth for Purdue and looks to keep things rolling.
