The Big Ten originally had four games slated for Saturday, but the four became one after various COVID-19 related cancellations. Fortunately for the Big Ten, the conference did work in its only game.
Let’s take a look at what happened.
Game of the Night:
-Northwestern Wildcats 111, Chicago State 6
For the second straight game, Northwestern faced a vastly overmatched opponent and scored a dominant win. The Wildcats got up double-digits early and Chicago State really never came back. In fact, Northwestern actually ran up the score in the second half, eventually scoring an 111-66 win.
Northwestern got some good performances from players like Robbie Beran and Miller Kopp. Beran finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists while Kopp put up 16 points and a 196 offensive rating. Chase Audige also had 20 points in 20 minutes.
With the win, Northwestern improved to 2-0 and will now prepare for a matchup against Pittsburgh at home next Wednesday. The Wildcats are projected as minor favorites.
Cancelled/Postponed:
-Tennessee Martin Skyhawks at No. 5 Illinois Fighting Illini
This would have been a tuneup game between Illinois’ matchups against Baylor and Duke. Unfortunately, that won’t be happening. The Illini will now prepare for the team’s trip to Duke next Tuesday.
-James Madison Dukes at Maryland Terrapins
This was one of the various games placed on Maryland over the last few weeks, but it didn’t end up going forward. The Terps will now prepare for a road trip to face Clemson on Wednesday.
-Alabama A&M Skyhawks at No. 23 Ohio State Buckeyes
This would have been the team’s final non-confernece tuneup game before things got far more difficult next week. Ohio State will now prepare for the team’s game against Notre Dame next Tuesday.
