Nine Big Ten Teams Land In Week Six Polls

See where the Big Ten landed in the latest rankings.

NCAA Basketball: Illinois at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

The AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls released earlier this week for Week Six of the season and nine Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. It’s an incredible achievement for the league and that’s not even to mention two other teams (Indiana and Purdue) received top 25 votes as well.

Here is where the Big Ten landed:

Week Six AP Poll:

Week Six USA Today Coaches’ Poll

  • No. 7 - Wisconsin
  • No. 11 - Iowa
  • No. 13 - Rutgers
  • No. 15 - Michigan
  • No. 16 - Illinois
  • No. 18 - Michigan State
  • No. 20 - Ohio State
  • No. 22 - Northwestern
  • No. 24 - Minnesota
  • Receiving Votes: Purdue

While it was disappointing to see Iowa drop out of the top five in the AP Poll, the league still performed exceedingly well. Having nine teams in the top 25 is absolutely unreal and four in the top 15 is even more impressive. And that doesn’t even mention Indiana, who’s narrowly outside the top 25 at the moment. Purdue also received votes in the Coaches’ Poll.

Perhaps the biggest question is how long the league can keep this many teams in top 25 contention. With conference play currently ongoing, it seems likely some of these teams will simply have too many losses to remain in the top 25. However, we will have to wait and see if that holds true. After all, this is quite an unusual season.
