Earlier this week, the Michigan Wolverines got some exciting news as the program learned five-star and top 20 prospect Moussa Diabate would be committing to the program. This is the second five-star commitment of Juwan Howard’s short stint at Michigan.

Huge pickup for the Wolverines, and their second top-10 prospect in the last couple weeks. Pushes Juwan Howard's program to the No. 1 spot in the class rankings.
(Commitment first reported by @TiptonEdits.)
Diabate is an international prospect, but currently plays at IMG Academy in Florida. He is rated as a five-star prospect, the 20th best player in the 2021 recruiting class, and the second-best player in Florida for the year per 247Sports. The recruiting site also lists him at 6-foot-10 and 215 pounds. Along with Michigan, Diabate had offers from Alabama, Arizona, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, and Texas Tech among others.
While Diabate is still more than a year away from arriving on a college campus, his skillset is apparent. He’s a lengthy forward who should be able to defend multiple positions at the college level and make a big impact on the boards and in the paint. Diabate still has some room to grow offensively, but the potential is clearly there.
Diabate is Michigan’s sixth commitment in the 2021 recruiting class. The Wolverines now have the top rated class nationally by 247Sports and a group that features four top 70 prospects, five top 125 prospects, and six in the top 160. By any evaluation, this is setting up to be a fantastic class for Michigan. And it should follow up on a 2020 class that ranked atop the Big Ten as well. Wolverine fans have to be pleased.
How Diabate will perform in Ann Arbor is unknown, but Howard and fans have to be excited about what’s to come.
