The preseason watch list is out for the Bob Cousy Award, and three Big Ten players were included. The annual award is presented by The College of the Holy Cross and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to the nation’s top point guard, and is named for six-time NBA champion and Boston Celtics point guard Bob Cousy. The Big Ten players chosen for this year’s watch list include:
- Ayo Dosunmu, Illinois Fighting Illini
- Geo Baker, Rutgers Scarlet Knights
- D’Mitrik Trice, Wisconsin Badgers
Dosunmu enters his junior season this year, and has averaged 15.2 points and 3.3 assists per game in his first two seasons with the Illini. Baker is entering his senior season and has averaged 11.3 points and 3.4 assists per game at Rutgers. Trice will be a redshirt senior this season, and has averaged 8.9 points and 2.7 assists per game at Wisconsin.
The award has been given to two Big Ten players since it was started in 2004. Those include former Illini player Dee Brown in 2006 and former Michigan point guard Trey Burke in 2013.
