The 2020 NBA Draft took place on Wednesday night and Daniel Oturu of the Minnesota Golden Gophers was fortunate enough to hear his name called. He was selected at No. 33 by the New York Knicks, but was subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Oturu played two seasons with the Gophers. And while his freshman year was relatively standard, he exploded onto the scene as a sophomore and averaged an impressive 20.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He was in serious All-American consideration for much of the season and for good reason. Oturu is a physical force down low and figures to be a great rebounder on the next level.
There was some debate about whether Oturu should return to campus next season, but it certainly seems like he made the right decision with this news. Fans have to be excited about what’s to come for Oturu at his new destination.
