The 2020 NBA Draft took place on Wednesday night and Cassius Winston of the Michigan State Spartans was fortunate enough to hear his name called. He was selected at No. 53 by the Oklahoma City Thunder and then traded to the Washington Wizards.

Winston played four seasons in East Lansing and finished with one of the most impressive careers in Michigan State history. He averaged an impressive 18.6 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game in his final season with the Spartans. Many were hoping to see what Winston could have done in March if the NCAA Tournament had been played.

There’s little debating Winston will have a great opportunity in Washington, where the team is looking to rebuild after some tough years. He should also have a chance to learn under a really talented and experienced backcourt. Fans have to be excited about what’s to come for Winston at his new destination.
