The unofficial preseason Big Ten Media Poll was released today. The poll is conducted by The Athletic and The Columbus Dispatch, and polls 28 writers from around the conference, two per team.

Illinois was the big favorite among those polled to win the Big Ten this season, with Iowa and Wisconsin in a close competition for second and third. Michigan State was just behind at No. 4, and after that there was a big drop-off in vote totals with Rutgers finishing No. 5.

Penn State, Nebraska, and Northwestern sit down at the bottom of the results, but the middle was fairly competitive among voters.

Luka Garza and Ayo Dosunmu split votes for Big Ten Player of the Year, and both were unanimous All-Big Ten First-Team selections.
