Earlier this week, the Ohio State Buckeyes got some exciting news as 2022 prospect Roddy Gayle announced his commitment to the program. He joins what is quickly become an exciting 2022 class for Chris Holtmann and staff.

Gayle comes out of Youngstown, New York and is rated as a four-star prospect and the top player in the state by 247Sports. The recruiting site also lists him at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds and as the 54th best player in the 2021 cycle. Along with Ohio State, he also had offers from Alabama, Georgetown, Syracuse, and UConn among others.
Obviously, this is a significant pickup for the Buckeyes. Gayle is the second commitment in Ohio State’s 2022 recruiting class, which now ranks second nationally. He joins shooting guard Bowen Hardman in the class. And with a few more open spots, don’t expect the Buckeyes to be done in the 2022 cycle just yet.
How Gayle will perform in Columbus is unknown, but Holtmann and fans have to be excited about what’s to come.
