Sandfort is listed by 247Sports as the 138th best prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. The three-star forward is also ranked as the 26th best small forward and second best recruit from the state of Iowa. He held offers from a medley of other schools including Minnesota, Stanford and Utah.
In his junior season the 6’7” forward averaged 19.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4 assists per game while also shooting 45.3% from beyond the arc. Iowa managed to get in early, being the first school to offer Sandfort, and were able to land one of the top in-state recruits. The sharpshooter has also shown to be capable of running the point at the high school level, proving to be a solid passer. Several Iowa sites have mentioned that his skillset reminds them of a lengthier CJ Fredrick.
“I think it’s going to be a great opportunity for me, “ Sandfort told 247Sports. “It’s the perfect fit for me from a school standpoint, play style, and I have a great relationship with most of the players and coaches.”
“Ultimately, it’s just the perfect fit for me.”
