A month out from the upcoming season and Penn State head coach Pat Chamber has announced his resignation.
Chambers Resigns as Men’s Basketball Coach - Penn State University Athletics Jim Ferry named interim coach for 2020-21 season. https://t.co/tiZKQTinnS— Andy Katz (@TheAndyKatz) October 21, 2020
While the news might seem to be out of left field and an unexpected development, it’s being reported that Chambers resignation happened because of the ongoing internal investigation into Chambers after allegations made against the coach from former player Rasir Bolton this past July.

The school announced that Jim Ferry will be the interim head coach. Ferry has compiled a 314-265 record as a coach and his last head coaching gig was at Duquesne.
Chambers issued a statement about his departure from Penn State, though it reads more like a resume and doesn’t address much:

Penn State had their best season under Chambers last year, going 21-10 and peaking at ninth in the AP rankings. If the season had not ended early due to COVID-19, the Nittany Lions would have made their first NCAA Tournament since 2011 when Ed DeChellis was still head coach.
More to come as it develops.
