Iowa is set to return Luka Garza and is looking like a legit contender in the Big Ten. The addition of Gonzaga could lead to a potential top five showdown in the first month of the season, or at least a game between two ranked teams hoping to make the Final Four this winter. The game is essentially replacing the now cancelled matchup with Oregon State that was set to take place at the same location this December.
Head coach Fran McCaffery has mentioned that the Hawkeyes schedule will include 27 games, 20 of which will be in conference play. Iowa is planning to play in a multi team event at home, will face Iowa State and face an ACC team in the Big Ten / ACC Challenge. The rest of the schedule hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s expected to likely be filled with a few mid-majors at home.
As of right now it hasn’t been reported if fans will be allowed to attend the game between Iowa and Gonzaga.
