Two teams earned Big Ten weekly awards.

NCAA Basketball: Michigan at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

The Big Ten released its weekly award winners for week nine of the regular season and two teams ended up splitting the awards. Michigan State’s Cassius Winston was named Big Ten Player of the Week and Iowa’s Joe Toussaint was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Winston was spectacular in two Spartan victories last week, scoring 21 points in a win over Illinois on Thursday and a career-high 32 points on Sunday in a win over Michigan. He now has 1,685 career points and 802 career assists. This is the first time he has earned Player of the Week honors this season and the sixth time in his career.

Additionally, Toussaint had a great week as well. He scored 18 points in his third start of the season against Penn State on Saturday afternoon. This is the first time he has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week during his career.

Congratulations are in order for both players. Don’t be surprised if these two show back up on this list given how they have played to date.
