The Big Ten only had one game on Friday night, but it was an interesting one with Wisconsin going on the road to face Purdue. The Badgers had won three of four, while Purdue had lost four of five. Could Wisconsin keep it up on the road?
Let’s take a look at what happened.
Game of the Night:
-Purdue Boilermakers 70, Wisconsin Badgers 51
Unfortunately for Badger fans, what looked like it would be a competitive game on paper didn’t end up materializing on Friday night. Wisconsin went on the road to face Purdue and got thoroughly outplayed. The Boilermakers jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back, ending up walking away with a 70-51 win. Evan Boudreaux led the way with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
For Purdue, this was an important one. The Boilermakers have been reeling and really needed a win to get back on track. And with a record narrowly above .500, time is running out to build a quality NCAA resume heading into March. Friday’s game won’t be enough by itself to get Purdue into the Big Dance, but it’s a nice start. The Boilermakers will return to action on Tuesday on the road against Rutgers.
On the other side, Wisconsin suffered its most lopsided loss of the season. Losing on the road against a quality opponent like Purdue isn’t anything to be ashamed about, but the margin here was definitely concerning. The Badgers should have keep things closer than they did on Friday. The team now sits at 12-8 overall after the loss and will hope to get back on track on Monday on the road against Iowa.
