The Hawkeyes swept the Big Ten weekly awards.

The Big Ten released its weekly award winners for Week 11 of the regular season and Iowa ended up sweeping the awards. Luka Garza was named Big Ten Player of the Week and CJ Fredrick was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Garza had quite a week for the Hawkeyes, averaging 30 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game in wins over Northwestern and Michigan. In fact, he’s been on such a run lately that he’s started to moving into the National Player of the Year discussion. This is the second time he has earned Player of the Week honors during his career.

Similarly, Fredrick also had a big week. He scored 11 points in Iowa’s road win against Northwestern and 16 points in the win over Michigan. Notably, he shot 75 percent from outside the arc against the Wolverines. This is the first time he has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week during his career.

Congratulations are in order for both players. Don’t be surprised if these two show back up on this list given how they have played to date.
