Five Big Ten Teams Land In Week 12 Polls

See where the Big Ten landed in the latest rankings.

The AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls were released earlier this week for Week 12 of the season and five Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. What was arguably even more impressive is that six other teams received votes in the AP Poll. All told, it was an encouraging performance for the Big Ten.

Here is where the Big Ten landed:

Week 12 AP Poll:

  • No. 11 - Michigan State
  • No. 17 - Maryland
  • No. 19 - Iowa
  • No. 21 - Illinois
  • No. 24 - Rutgers
  • Receiving Votes: Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Indiana

Week 12 USA Today Coaches’ Poll

  • No. 9 - Michigan State
  • No. 17 - Maryland
  • No. 19 - Iowa
  • No. 22 - Illinois
  • No. 25 - Rutgers
  • Receiving Votes: Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana, Wisconsin

While it was disappointing to see teams like Michigan and Ohio State fall out of the top 25, the Big Ten still remains in great position in the polls. Five teams landed in the top 25 and six (!!!) others received votes in the polls. Without exaggerating, the only Big Ten teams who didn’t receive votes this week were Minnesota, Nebraska, and Northwestern. It’s not often that 11 teams from one league are in top 25 consideration.
