Five Big Ten Teams Land In Week 11 Polls

See where the Big Ten landed in the latest rankings.

The AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls were released earlier this week for Week 11 of the season and five Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. What was arguably even more impressive is that six other teams received votes in both polls. All told, it was an encouraging performance for the Big Ten.

Here is where the Big Ten landed:

Week 11 AP Poll:

  • No. 15 - Michigan State
  • No. 17 - Maryland
  • No. 19 - Michigan
  • No. 21 - Ohio State
  • No. 24 - Illinois
  • Receiving Votes: Iowa, Indiana, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Rutgers

Week 11 USA Today Coaches’ Poll

  • No. 14 - Michigan State
  • No. 17 - Maryland
  • No. 19 - Ohio State
  • No. 20 - Michigan
  • No. 24 - Iowa
  • Receiving Votes: Indiana, Illinois, Penn State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Purdue

While it was disappointing to see Michigan State fall out of the top 10 this week after its blowout loss to Purdue, the Big Ten still remains in great position in the polls. Five teams landed in the top 25 and six (!!!) others received votes in the polls. Without exaggerating, the only Big Ten teams who didn’t receive votes this week were Minnesota, Nebraska, and Northwestern. It’s not often that 11 teams from one league are in top 25 consideration.
