Preseason rankings are rarely close to the reality of season’s end. However they can be a great discussion piece for college basketball fans and media. They give some insight into general expectations. Usually, they will put a heavy emphasis on blue bloods, highly touted recruiting classes and returning experience. The Big Ten has many teams with lost production in the off season through departures and graduation. With that being said, they also have new talent and skill entering the fold.
Three Big Ten teams made ESPN’s recent Top 25 projection for the upcoming season.
Big Ten In Way Too Early ESPN Rankings:
- #1 - Michigan State
- #10 - Maryland
- #12 - Ohio State
After reviewing the updated Top 25 try answering the two questions below in the comments.
1. What team, if any, that was left out do you think should be in the Top 25 going into the season?
2. How many Big Ten teams will be in the Top 25 at the end of the 2019 -2020 regular season?
Give any additional thoughts you have below in the comments.
