Over the weekend, Illinois fans got some exciting news as Wesleyan transfer Austin Hutcherson announced that he would be committing to the Illinois Fighting Illini. This is great news for head coach Brad Underwood and his staff.

Hutcherson will transfer out of Wesleyan, a Div. III school in Middletown, Connecticut. He played the last two seasons there and earned first-team all-league honors, averaging 20 points per game and was a great three-point shooter. Due to NCAA transfer rules, he will have to sit out next season, but will have two seasons of eligibility remaining thereafter.
Given he will have to sit out next season, he won’t be able to help Illinois immediately on the court, but should add depth on the wing going into the future. Underwood fans have to be excited about that moving forward.
