It was announced last week that former Purdue standout Dakota Mathias had signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks. As teams prepare for the upcoming season they can take a 20 man roster into training camp before cutting down to 15 for the season (as well as two two-way contracts).

Mathias went undrafted in 2018 before participating in the Summer League with the Cavs. He ultimately went overseas to play with Divina Seguros Joventut, averaging 8.5 points per game and shooting 37.3% from the field before getting injured.
This summer Mathias averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game with the Lakers in the Summer League before landing in Dallas. The two-time Big Ten All-Defensive Team selection excelled at defense and three point shooting during his playing days at Purdue.
If Mathias fails to catch on with Dallas he’ll likely have the opportunity to land overseas again this fall.
